In the 15 games that running back Jahmyr Gibbs played for the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL regular season, Gibbs tallied an impressive 945 rushing yards, ten rushing touchdowns, 52 receptions, 316 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown.

Now that we have determined how Jahmyr Gibbs played last season, let’s shift our focus to the 2024 NFL regular season. Two weeks ago, in the Detroit Lions 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs accumulated 78 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Lions victory over the Seahawks just noted, Jahmyr Gibbs compiled 19.8 Draftkings points. What did we learn? The data just presented tells us that Jahmyr Gibbs is playing outstanding football entering this week’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

Additionally, I like Jahmyr Gibbs from a general matchup perspective. The Dallas Cowboys have had issues containing opposing running backs this season. Let me be more specific. Through five games played in the 2024 NFL regular season, the Dallas Cowboys are ranked a rather low 27th in total Draftkings points allowed a game (27.1) to opposing running backs. Keep in mind that the NFL has 32 teams in the entire league. Clearly, being ranked 27th in any defensive category is not good.

Flex Plays

Jake Ferguson, Tight End, Dallas Cowboys $6,200

For my lead flex play, I am going to take a chance on Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson. In the four games that Ferguson has played for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2024 NFL regular season, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has targeted Ferguson 30 times. In those 30 targets just noted, Ferguson accumulated 22 receptions and 229 receiving yards.

It is noteworthy that the Detroit Lions have had issues containing opposing tight ends this season. Through five games played in the 2024 NFL regular season, the Lions are ranked a dreadful 31st in total Draftkings points allowed to opposing tight ends a game (28.9).
