October 20, 2025 8:08 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an American League playoff matchup featuring the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Seattle Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Mariners vs. Blue Jays matchup.
Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks
On Monday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a seven-game American League playoff series featuring the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays.
How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s American League Championship game? The Toronto Blue Jays arrive at the seventh game of this seven-game series with the Seattle Mariners playing quality baseball. The Blue Jays have won five of the team’s last nine games played in the 2025 MLB season, including a convincing 13-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners four days ago.
Similar to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Seattle Mariners arrive at the final game of this American League Championship series playing good baseball. The Mariners have won five of the team’s last nine games played this season, including a 3-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays last week.
Captain-George Kirby, Starting Pitcher, Seattle Mariners $11,400
Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s American League Championship game. Starting pitcher George Kirby has certainly been an important part of the Seattle Mariners starting rotation this season. With that said, how has Kirby performed from a statistical perspective in 2025? Let’s review the veteran hurler’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB season to better shed light on Kirby’s overall contributions to his team.
In 23 starts made in the 2025 MLB regular season, Seattle Mariners starting pitcher George Kirby compiled a 10-8 (win-loss record), a 4.21 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.19 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched). It should also be noted that Kirby amassed 137 strikeouts in 126 innings pitched this season.
More recently, in the Seattle Mariners 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers earlier this month, George Kirby pitched five quality innings while scattering three hits and no walks. It should also be noted that Kirby struck out six Detroit Tigers batters in the game.
In my view, George Kirby is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in this MLB playoff game. Having stated that, I am backing Seattle Mariners starting pitcher George Kirby at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB playoff game (Draftkings price noted): Shane Bieber, Starting Pitcher (Toronto Blue Jays) $11,000: Julio Rodriguez, Outfielder (Seattle Mariners) $9,200: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., First Baseman (Toronto Blue Jays) $9,400: Eugenio Suarez, Third Baseman (Seattle Mariners) $8,000.
