2025 Memorial Tournament
May 29, 2025 8:00 am EDT

This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 Memorial Tournament. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 Memorial Tournament will be played.

The 2025 Memorial Tournament will be played at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,569 yards.

*Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 Memorial Tournament with a four round cumulative score of eight under par.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.

For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.

Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 Memorial Tournament.

Draftkings Memorial Tournament First Round Picks

Collin Morikawa $10,200

The talented American has tallied seven top 17 finishes in his last ten tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.

Collin Morikawa certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Since 2021, Morikawa has played this week’s PGA Tour event four times. In those four tournaments just noted, Morikawa amassed two second place finishes, including a second-place result at the 2024 Memorial Tournament.

Patrick Cantlay $9,500

Patrick Cantlay has amassed four top 13 finishes in his last eight events played on the PGA Tour, including a fifth-place result at the 2025 Genesis Invitational in February.

Cantlay is currently ranked tenth in strokes gained approach (0.624), second in GIR (greens in regulation-71.69%), 11th in strokes gained tee to green (1.016), 15th in birdie or better percentage (24.47%), and 21st in birdie average (4.21) on the PGA Tour.

Additionally, Cantlay won the 2021 Memorial Tournament.

J.J. Spaun $7,700

J.J. Spaun has compiled four top 17 finishes in his last nine events played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive sixth place result at last week’s 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge.

Spaun is currently ranked 12th in overall strokes gained (1.092), fourth in strokes gained approach (0.820), 12th in strokes gained tee to green (0.983) and 13th in proximity to the hole (35’5) on the PGA Tour.

In summary, I think J.J. Spaun will continue his outstanding play in Thursday’s first round of the 2025 Memorial Tournament.

Bud Cauley $7,600

Bud Cauley has accumulated four top six finishes in his last six tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a fourth-place result at the 2025 Valspar Championship two months ago.

Similar to J.J. Spaun, Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa, Bud Cauley has played well at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in the past. More specifically, Cauley finished ninth at the 2019 Memorial Tournament.

Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 Memorial Tournament (Draftkings price noted): Scottie Scheffler $13,800: Tommy Fleetwood $9,800: Viktor Hovland $9,100: Corey Conners $9,300: Matt Fitzpatrick $8,000: Christiaan Bezuidenhout $7,400.
