Entering Saturday’s game with Memphis, the St. Louis Battlehawks are currently ranked first in the XFL Conference playoff standings. Having stated that, a big reason why the Battlehawks have played relatively consistent quality football this season is St. Louis quarterback AJ McCarron.

How has AJ McCarron performed from a statistical standpoint in 2024? In three games played for the St. Louis Battlehawks this season, McCarron has averaged 205.4 passing yards and 1.7 passing touchdowns a game.

Looking at the relevant data just presented more closely I observed that AJ McCarron is averaging a total of 20.1 Draftkings points a game.

It should also be noted that I like AJ McCarron’s matchup this week. Why? McCarron will be facing a Memphis Showboats defense that has had issues containing opposing quarterbacks in 2024. In three games played in the UFL this season, the Memphis Showboats are ranked eighth in total passing yards allowed a game (243.8 yards) to the quarterback position.

Keep in mind that the United Football League has a total of eight teams in the entire league. Having stated, being ranked eighth in any eighth in any defensive category is not good.

In conclusion, I fully expect St. Louis quarterback AJ McCarron to post quality fantasy numbers versus this vulnerable Memphis Showboats defense on Saturday.

Flex Plays

Darrius Shepherd, WR $8,400

Talented St. Louis Battlehawks wide receiver Darrius Shepherd has been targeted quite often by starting St. Louis signal caller AJ McCarron this season. Let me be more specific. St. Louis quarterback AJ McCarron has targeted Darrius Shepherd a whopping 24 times in the first three weeks of the regular season.

Of those 24 targets just noted, Darrius Shepherd has accumulated 17 receptions and 135 receiving yards. The data just noted equates to Shepherd averaging a total of 10.8 Draftkings points a game. That is certainly the type of production I need from players I select for my flex positions.

I also like Darrius Shepherd’s relatively affordable Draftkings price of $8,400. I think Shepherd presents the best fantasy value of any player on this one game slate. Why? In my opinion, Shepherd has a very high fantasy ceiling which presents good value to sharp DFS player.
