July 27, 2025 7:10 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the New York Mets vs. San Francisco Giants game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Mets vs. Giants matchup.

Captain-Kodai Senga, Starting Pitcher, New York Mets $12,000
This Sunday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three-game National League series featuring the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants.
How are these two teams playing entering this afternoon’s National League game? The New York Mets arrive at the third game of this three-game series with the San Francisco Giants playing good baseball. The Mets have won six of the team’s last seven games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 7-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels earlier this week.
Conversely, the San Francisco Giants arrive at today’s National League game playing below average baseball. The Giants have lost eight of the team’s last ten games played this season, including a 9-0 shutout loss to the Atlanta Braves five days ago.
Now that we have determined how both teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this evening’s contest. Veteran starting pitcher Kodai Senga has been a standout performer for the New York Mets this season. With that said, how has Senga pitched from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Senga’s game data to answer that question.
Through 15 starts made for the New York Mets this season, starting pitcher Kodai Senga has compiled a 7-3 (win-loss record) and a rather impressive 1.79 ERA (Earned Run Average) which ranks first in MLB. It should also be mentioned that Senga has tallied a 1.18 (walks, hits, innings pitched) and amassed 79 strikeouts while allowing 36 walks in 80.2 innings pitched in 2025.
Last month, in the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York starting pitcher Kodai Senga certainly pitched at a high level. More specifically, Senga pitched six quality innings striking out four Arizona batters while scattering two hits and five walks in the Dodgers win over the Diamondbacks.
In my opinion, Kodai Senga is the most likely player to post the highest number of Draftkings points in today’s MLB game. Having stated that, I am backing New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga at the captain position for this one game MLB Draftkings Showdown contest.
Flex plays I like in this MLB regular game (Draftkings price noted): Pete Alonso, First Baseman (New York Mets) $9,000: Brandon Nimmo, Outfielder (New York Mets) $8,200: Rafael Devers, Third Baseman (San Francisco Giants) $8,600.
