Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
June 21, 2025 10:10 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for tonight’s Nationals vs. Dodgers matchup.
Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks
Captain-Dustin May, Starting Pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers $10,800
On Saturday night, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game MLB series featuring the Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
How are these two teams playing entering today’s National League game? The Los Angeles Dodgers arrive at the second game of this three-game series playing good baseball. The Dodgers have won six of the team’s last seven games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including an 8-6 win over the San Diego Padres four days ago.
In direct contrast to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Washington Nationals are playing below average baseball entering tonight’s contest. The Nationals have lost 14 of the team’s last 15 games played this season, including an 11-9 loss to the Miami Marlins last week.
Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this evening’s contest. Starting pitcher Dustin May has been a solid performer for the Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitching rotation this season. Having stated that, how has the veteran pitcher performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review May’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.
In 13 starts made this season, Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Dustin May has compiled a 4-4 (won-loss record), a 4.46 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.24 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched) in 2025. It should also be mentioned that May has amassed 67 strikeouts while allowing 30 walks in 72.2 innings pitched this season.
More recently, in the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks last month, Los Angeles starting pitcher Dustin May pitched rather well. May pitched six quality innings while scattering five hits and one walk in the Dodgers victory over the Diamondbacks. Additionally, in the Dodgers win over Arizona, May accumulated 27.3 Draftkings points.
In my opinion, Dustin May is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in tonight’s MLB game. With that said, I am backing Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Dustin May at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB regular season contest (Draftkings price noted): Jake Irvin, Starting Pitcher (Washington Nationals) $10,600: Shohei Ohtani, First Baseman (Los Angeles Dodgers) $10,200: James Wood, Outfielder (Washington Nationals) $9,600.
