Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Washington Nationals and the New York Mets. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for today’s Nationals vs. Mets matchup.
Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks
Captain-Kodai Senga, Starting Pitcher, New York Mets $12,000
This Thursday afternoon, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three-game National League series featuring the Washington Nationals and the New York Mets.
How are these two teams playing entering this afternoon’s National League game? The New York Mets arrive at the third game of this three-game series with the Washington Nationals playing good baseball. The Mets have won five of the team’s last six games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a dominant 13-5 win over the Colorado Rockies four days ago.
In direct contrast to the New York Mets, the Washington Nationals arrive at today’s National League game playing below average baseball. The Nationals have lost six of the team’s last eight games played this season, including an 8-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs last week.
Now that we have determined how both teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this afternoon’s contest. Veteran starting pitcher Kodai Senga has been a standout performer for the New York Mets this season. With that said, how has Senga pitched from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Senga’s game data to answer that question.
Through 12 starts made for the New York Mets this season, starting pitcher Kodai Senga has compiled a 6-3 (win-loss record) and a robust 1.59 ERA (Earned Run Average) which ranks third in MLB. It should also be mentioned that Senga has tallied a 1.18 (walks, hits, innings pitched) amassed 65 strikeouts while allowing 30 walks in 68 innings pitched in 2025.
More recently, in the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this month, New York starting pitcher Kodai Senga certainly pitched at a high level. More specifically, Senga pitched six quality innings striking out four Arizona batters while scattering two hits and five walks in the Dodgers win over the Diamondbacks.
In my opinion, Kodai Senga is the most likely player to post the highest number of Draftkings points in today’s MLB game. Having stated that, I am backing New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga at the captain position for this one game MLB Draftkings Showdown contest.
Flex plays I like in this MLB regular game (Draftkings price noted): Michael Soroka, Starting Pitcher (Washington Nationals) $10,600: Pete Alonso, First Baseman (New York Mets) $8,800: Brandon Nimmo, Outfielder (New York Mets) $7,400.
