Draftkings NBA Showdown Picks: Clippers vs. Bucks

Tonight, the NBA presents a a matchup between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Let’s take a look at this game from a single game/showdown DFS perspective.

Let’s shift our focus to the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest. You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard Draftkings points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

Draftkings Picks

Captain-Giannis Antetokounmpo $11,600

The 2021 NBA Finals MVP arrives at this evening’s game with the Clippers playing outstanding basketball from a statistical perspective. In his last eight games played, Giannis Antetokounmpo has averaged 31.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.4 assists a game.

Looking at Antetokounmpo’s last eight games even more closely you will see that Giannis certainly does not mind shooting the basketball. Over the last eight games just noted, Antetokounmpo has accumulated a whopping 134 field goal attempts. That’s almost 17 field goal attempts a game. My point here is that Antetokounmpo is clearly the heart and soul of this Milwaukee Bucks offense. Give me Giannis Antetokounmpo as the captain on this Draftkings slate everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

Flex Plays-Damian Lillard $9,000

Since joining the Milwaukee Bucks prior to this season, Damian Lillard has illustrated that he is up to the challenge of being the starting point guard for this team. Let’s take a look at a sample of Lillard’s recent game statistics to illustrate my point. In his last six games played, Damion Lillard has averaged 21.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.25 assists a game.

It should also be mentioned that Lillard will be facing a Los Angeles Clippers defense that has clearly had issues containing opposing point guards this season. The Clippers are currently ranked 26th in fantasy points allowed to the point guard position. I like Lillard’s chances of finding success tonight.

James Harden $9,400

Full disclosure, James Harden did not post the greatest statistical line in the Clippers 89-88 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves last night. However, I am willing to look past that tonight. Through 60 games played this season, Harden has averaged an impressive 40.9 fantasy points game.

I also like the vulnerability of the defense Harden will face tonight. The Bucks are currently ranked a lowly 22nd in fantasy points allowed to opposing point guards. I think Harden bounces back from last night with a quality showing in Milwaukee.
