Breaking down the best Draftkings picks for this week's Panthers vs. Commanders matchup.
Carolina Panthers vs. Washington Commanders
October 20, 2024 4:05 pm EDT
This Sunday afternoon, the NFL presents Draftkings football fans with a matchup between the Washington Commanders and the Carolina Panthers. Let’s take a look at this NFL game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Washington Commanders vs. Carolina Panthers game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for this week’s Carolina Panthers vs. Washington Commanders matchup.
Draftkings NFL Showdown Picks
Captain-Jayden Daniels, Quarterback, Washington Commanders $10,800
Washington rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has wasted little time showing the world that he belongs in the NFL. Let’s review Daniels game data from the 2024 NFL regular season to shed light on my previous statement.
In the six games that Jayden Daniels has played for the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL regular season, Daniels compiled 1,404 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 322 rushing yards, and added four rushing touchdowns.
Two weeks ago, in the Washington Commanders 42-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels tallied 184 passing yards, 88 rushing yards, and added two rushing touchdowns.
Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Commanders victory over the Cardinals just noted, Jayden Daniels accumulated a whopping 25.1 Draftkings points.
Additionally, I like Jayden Daniels from a general matchup perspective. Why? The Carolina Panthers have had issues containing opposing quarterbacks this season. Let me be more specific. Through six games played in the 2024 NFL regular season, the Panthers are ranked a rather low 24th in total Draftkings points allowed a game (19.5) to opposing quarterbacks. Keep in mind that the NFL has 32 teams in the entire league. Having stated that, being ranked 24th in any defensive category is clearly not good.
As I noted in the rules section above, selecting the correct player at the captain position for a Draftkings NFL showdown lineup is absolutely vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) DFS contest. Having stated that, I am backing Washington Commanders starting quarterback Jayden Daniels at the captain position for this Draftkings NFL DFS Showdown contest.
Flex Plays
Chuba Hubbard, Running Back, Carolina Panthers $9,400
Talented Carolina running back Chuba Hubbard has certainly been a key contributor to the Panthers offense in 2024. Let’s review Hubbard’s recent statistical player data to better shed light on my previous statement.
In the six games that Chuba Hubbard has played for the Carolina Panthers in the 2024 NFL regular season, Hubbard has compiled 485 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 17 receptions, 82 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown.
I fully expect Chuba Hubbard to continue his outstanding play versus the Washington Commandos on Sunday afternoon.
Additional flex plays I like to perform well (Draftkings price noted): Andy Dalton, Quarterback (Carolina Panthers) $8,200: Zach Ertz, Tight End (Washington Commanders) $6,600.
