Draftkings Best NBA Showdown Picks: Thunder vs. Grizzlies
Breaking down the best Draftkings picks for tonight's Thunder vs. Grizzlies matchup.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies
March 16, 2024 8:00 pm EDT
After a 126-119 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, the Oklahoma City Thunder travel to Tennessee for a matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Before we dive into the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies game, let’s review the rules for Draftkings single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies matchup.
Draftkings Player Picks
Captain-Shai Gilgeous-Alexander $10,800
How important is Oklahoma City point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to the Thunder offense? In his last three games played, Gilgeous-Alexander has averaged an impressive 28 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 steals a game. I think it’s fair to say that the Thunder offense runs through the Oklahoma City guard.
It should also be mentioned that Gilgeous-Alexander will be facing a Memphis Grizzlies defense that has clearly had issues allowing fantasy points to point guards recently. In the last 7 games played in the NBA, the Grizzlies are ranked 24th in total Draftkings points allowed a game (52.41) to the point guard position.
Flex Plays
Jalen Williams $7,200
When provided the opportunity for extended playing time, Oklahoma City forward Jalen Williams has definitely been up to the challenge. In the Thunder’s win over the Mavericks on Thursday, Williams posted 27 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks and 1 steal. In total, Williams played 35 minutes in Thursday’s contest.
Similar to Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen draws a Memphis Grizzlies defense that has had significant problems with allowing fantasy points to the power forward position.
Entering tonight’s game, the Grizzlies are ranked 21st in total Draftkings points (50.58) allowed a game to the power forward position. Considering the fact that the NBA has a total of 32 teams, the Grizzlies being ranked 21st defending power forwards is not good.
John Konchar $5,200
Memphis guard John Konchar has been a key contributor to the Grizzlies offense recently. In his last two games played, Konchar has averaged 8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1 block a game.
I fully expect John Konchar’s quality play to continue tonight versus this Oklahoma City Thunder team.
Additional flex plays I like: Chet Holmgren $7,800: Gregory Jackson $6,600: Luguentz Dort $4,000.
