Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays
September 24, 2025 7:07 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an American League matchup featuring the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Red Sox vs. Blue Jays matchup.

Draftkings MLB DFS Picks

Captain-Garrett Crochet, Starting Pitcher, Boston Red Sox $12,600

On Wednesday night, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game American League series featuring the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays.

How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The Boston Red Sox arrive at the second game of this three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays playing good baseball. The Red Sox have won four of the team’s last six games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including an 11-7 win over the Tampa Bay Rays last week.

Conversely, the Toronto Blue Jays arrive at the second game of this American League series playing below average baseball. More specifically, the Blue Jays have lost five of the team’s last six games played this season, including an embarrassing 20-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals five days ago.

Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to this evening’s contest. Starting pitcher Garrett Crochet has been a solid performer for the Boston Red Sox this season. Having stated that, how has the talented hurler performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Crochet’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In 31 starts made this season, Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet has compiled a rather impressive 17-5 (won-loss record), a 2.69 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.05 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched) which ranks tenth in MLB. It should also be mentioned that Crochet has amassed 249 strikeouts (first in MLB) while allowing 46 walks in 197.1 innings pitched this season.

More recently, in the Boston Red Sox 11-7 win over the Tampa Bay Rays five days ago, Garrett Crochet pitched six quality innings while scattering four hits and three walks. Additionally, Crochet struck out nine Rays batters in the game.

In my view, Garrett Crochet is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in today’s MLB game. With that said, I am backing Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB regular season contest (Draftkings price noted): Max Scherzer, Starting Pitcher (Toronto Blue Jays) $10,600: Jarren Duran, Outfielder (Boston Red Sox) $8,800: Ernie Clement, Second Baseman (Toronto Blue Jays) $5,400.
