October 2, 2025 8:08 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an American League playoff matchup featuring the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Red Sox vs. Yankees matchup.

Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks

Captain-Cam Schlittler, Starting Pitcher, New York Yankees $11,600

On Thursday night, Major League Baseball presents the third game of a three-game American League playoff series featuring the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.

How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB playoff game? The Boston Red Sox arrive at the final game of this three-game series with the New York Yankees playing good baseball. The Red Sox have won five of the team’s last eight games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 6-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays last week.

Similar to the Red Sox, the New York Yankees arrive at the third game of this American League playoff series playing quality baseball. More specifically, the Yankees have won ten of the team’s last 11 games played this season, including a 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles four days ago.

Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s MLB playoff contest. Starting pitcher Cam Schlittler has certainly been an important part of the New York Yankees starting pitching rotation this season. With that said, how has Schlittler performed from a statistical perspective in 2025? Let’s examine the rookie hurler’s relevant player data from the 2025 MLB regular season to better shed light on Schlittler’s overall contributions to his team.

Through 14 starts made in 2025, New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler has compiled a 4-3 (win-loss record), a 2.98 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.22 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched). It should also be mentioned that Schlittler has amassed 84 strikeouts while allowing 31 walks in 73 innings pitched this season.

More recently, in the New York Yankees 6-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles earlier this month, Cam Schlittler pitched seven quality innings while scattering two hits and one walk.

In my view, Cam Schlittler is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in this MLB playoff game. Having stated that, I am backing New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB playoff game (Draftkings price noted): Connelly Early, Starting Pitcher (Boston Red Sox) $11,800: Jarren Duran, Outfielder (Boston Red Sox) $8,200: Aaron Judge, Outfielder (New York Yankees) $9,800.
