2025 Truist Championship
May 8, 2025 11:09 am EDT
This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 Truist Championship. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 Truist Championship will be played.
The 2025 Truist Championship will be played at the Philadelphia Cricket Club (Wissahickon Course) in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. The golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,119 yards.
*This event is traditionally played at the Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, Quail Hollow is the host golf course for next week’s 2025 PGA Championship.
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2025 Truist Championship.
Draftkings Truist Championship First Round Picks
Rory McIlroy $12,200
Since the beginning of January, Rory McIlroy has played seven tournaments (PGA and DP World Tours combined). In those seven events just mentioned, McIlroy amassed a rather impressive six top 15 finishes, including three wins (2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: 2025 Players Championship: 2025 Masters Tournament).
Rory McIlroy certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Let me be more specific. McIlroy is currently ranked first in strokes gained off the tee (0.855), 19th in strokes gained approach (0.595), ninth in strokes gained putting (0.593), third in driving distance (317.5), sixth in scrambling (69.01%), second in total strokes gained (2.319), seventh in birdie or better percentage (26.39%) and sixth in bogey avoidance (12.27%) on the PGA Tour.
What did we learn from the data just presented? Clearly, Rory McIlroy is playing at a high level entering this week’s PGA Tour event. With that said, I am backing Rory McIlroy as my lead DFS selection for the first round of the 2025 Truist Championship.
Tommy Fleetwood $9,100
Tommy Fleetwood has accumulated six top 21 finishes in his last seven tournaments played on the on the PGA Tour, including a fifth-place result at the 2025 Genesis Invitational in February.
Fleetwood is currently ranked 12th in overall strokes gained (1.202), tenth in strokes gained tee to green (1.087) and ninth in strokes gained approach (0.690) on the PGA Tour.
Corey Conners $8,900
The talented Canadian arrives at this week’s event in rather good form. Conners has amassed five top 18 finishes in his last six tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
Conners is currently ranked 19th in strokes gained off the tee (0.468), 15th in GIR (greens in regulation-69.84%), 20th in par four scoring average (3.97) and 20th in driving accuracy (66.33%) on the PGA Tour.
