On Monday night, the NCAA presents Draftkings basketball fans with an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup featuring the North Carolina Tar Heels and the FSU Seminoles. Let’s take a look at this game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the North Carolina Tar Heels vs. FSU Seminoles game let’s review the rules for Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for tonight’s North Carolina Tar Heels vs. FSU Seminoles matchup.

Draftkings NCAA College Basketball Showdown Picks

Captain-RJ Davis, Guard, North Carolina Tar Heels $11,600

The North Carolina Tar Heels (17-11, 10-6 ACC) are on a three-game winning streak and are looking to continue their momentum as they face the Florida State Seminoles (16-11, 7-9 ACC) tonight. The Tar Heels have been impressive lately, with key wins over Syracuse, NC State, and Virginia. Their recent success can be attributed to their improved defense and the quality play of senior guard RJ Davis.

In the 28 games that guard RJ Davis has played for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2024 NCAA regular season, Davis is averaging 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals a game.

Examining the data just presented more closely, in the 28 games that guard RJ Davis has played for the North Carolina Tar Heels this season, Davis has compiled a 39.5% field goal percentage, a 30.5% three-point percentage and an 87.6% free throw percentage.

I also like RJ Davis’s matchup in this contest. The reason? The Florida State Seminoles defense has struggled at times this season. More specifically, the Seminoles arrive at this evening’s game ranked a dismal 129th in overall points allowed per game (70.9), 95th in opponent three-point percentage (32.2%) and 158th in opponent defensive rebounds allowed per game (22.5).

As I noted in the rules section above, selecting the correct player at the captain position for a Draftkings NCAA showdown lineup is absolutely vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) DFS contest. Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this one game Draftkings slate.

In my opinion, RJ Davis presents the best fantasy value of any player on this one game DFS slate. Having stated that, I am rolling with North Carolina guard RJ Davis at the captain position for this one game Draftkings NCAA Showdown contest.

Flex Plays

Malique Ewin, Forward, Florida State Seminoles $10,800

Forward Malique Ewin has certainly been a key contributor to the Florida State Seminoles offensive achievements this season. Let’s take a look at Ewin’s game data from this season to better shed light on my previous statement.

In the 27 games that Malique Ewin has played for the FSU Seminoles in the 2024 NCAA regular season, Ewin is averaging a rather impressive 30.1 Draftkings points a game.

Additional flex plays I like to perform well in this game (Draftkings price noted): Seth Trimble, Guard (North Carolina) $9,600: Jamir Watkins, Guard (FSU) $10,200: Drake Powell, Forward (North Carolina) $5,000.
