The 2024 U.S. Senior Open will be played at the Newport Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island. The golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,024 yards.

Will the U.S. Senior Open have a traditional cut after two rounds?

The U.S. Senior Open will have a field of 156 players to start the tournament on Thursday. Upon the completion of two rounds, a cut will occur. The top 60 golfers (including ties) will make the cut.

Steve Stricker $10,900

The talented American arrives at this week’s major championship on the heels of three consecutive top eight finishes on the PGA Tour Champions, including a second-place result at the 2024 American Family Insurance Championship three weeks ago.

Steve Stricker also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Stricker is currently ranked first in birdie or better percentage (38.38%), third in driving accuracy (80.28%), first in three putt avoidance (1.33%), second in overall scoring average (68.12), and third in par four scoring average (3.92) on the PGA Tour Champions.

Steve Stricker has played well at the U.S. Senior Open previously. Stricker finished second at the 2023 U.S. Senior Open.

Padraig Harrington $9,900

Last week, Padraig Harrington fired a final round 68 at the 2024 Dicks Sporting Goods Open on his way to his second win of the PGA Tour Champions season.

Due to Padraig Harrington’s impressive win at the 2024 Dicks Sporting Goods Open I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Harrington fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2024 Dicks Sporting Goods Open, in relation to the field, Padraig Harrington ranked fourth in driving distance (309.2 yards), third in strokes gained on par fours (3.92), and second in GIR (greens in regulation-87%).

It should be noted that Harrington won the 2022 U.S. Senior Open.

Alex Cejka $7,900

Since the beginning of January, Alex Cejka has played eight tournaments on the PGA Tour Champions. In those eight events just mentioned, Alex Cejka accumulated seven top 18 finishes, including a an impressive fifth place result at the 2024 Cologuard Classic in March.
