September 15, 2025 7:40 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an American League matchup featuring the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for tonight’s Yankees vs. Twins matchup.
Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks
Captain-Carlos Rodon, Starting Pitcher, New York Yankees $11,800
On Monday night, Major League Baseball presents the opening game of a three-game American League series featuring the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins.
How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The New York Yankees arrive at the first game of this three-game series with the Minnesota Twins playing quality baseball. The Yankees have won three of the team’s last four games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 4-1 win over the Boston Red Sox three days ago.
In direct contrast to the New York Yankees, the Minnesota Twins are playing below average baseball entering this American League game. More specifically, the Twins have lost four of the team’s last five games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels last week.
Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this evening’s contest. Starting pitcher Carlos Rodon has certainly been an important part of the New York Yankees starting pitching rotation this season. With that said, how has Rodon performed from a statistical perspective in 2025? Let’s examine Rodon’s player data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.
Through 30 starts made in 2025, New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon has compiled a 16-8 (win-loss record), a 3.11 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.07 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched) which ranks 12th in MLB. It should also be mentioned that Rodon has amassed 186 strikeouts (13th in MLB) while allowing 70 walks in 176.1 innings pitched this season.
More recently, in the New York Yankees 8-4 victory over the Houston Astros earlier this month, Carlos Rodon pitched six quality innings while scattering three hits and two walks.
In my view, Carlos Rodon is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in this MLB regular season game. Having stated that, I am backing New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB regular season game (Draftkings price noted): Simeon Woods Richardson, Starting Pitcher (Minnesota Twins) $10,400: Aaron Judge, Outfielder (New York Yankees) $10,000: Matt Wallner, Outfielder (Minnesota Twins) $7,400.
