NBA DFS Best FanDuel Player Selections: Heat vs. Mavericks

After a defeat of the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, the Miami Heat travel to Texas to take on the Dallas Mavericks.

Before we discuss my DFS player selections for this evening’s NBA game, let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be the star, pro, and flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The pro player will accumulate 1.2x the standard fantasy points value.

The final two flex positions will receive the standard points value. Having stated that, it is important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a FanDuel single game contest.

MVP-Luka Doncic $17,500

Unless you have been living under a rock the last five years, you are aware that Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA. Having stated that, it’s safe to say that Doncic is the best player on the Dallas Mavericks by a very large margin.

Now that we have established that Doncic is currently one of the best players in the association how good has Luka Doncic been playing recently? In his last seven games played, Doncic has averaged 34.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 11.1 assists a game.

Yes, I know that the Miami Heat have one of the top ten defenses in the NBA. However, I am not concerned. The Heat haven’t played a game versus the Mavericks yet in 2024. Tonight, the Heat defense will be tested in a way the team has not seen this season.

Star-Terry Rozier $11,000

Two months ago, the Miami Heat acquired point guard Terry Rozier in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets. Has Rozier made a positive transition to his new team? The answer is clearly yes. Shortly after the All-Star break, the Heat announced that Rozier would be ascending to the starting lineup.

Since Rozier’s insertion into the starting lineup two weeks ago, the Miami Heat have played four games. In those four games just mentioned, Rozier has averaged 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.

It should also be mentioned that Rozier will be facing a Dallas Mavericks defense that has clearly had issues containing opposing point guards recently. In the Mavericks last seven games played, Dallas is ranked a lowly 28th in total FanDuel points allowed to the point guard position.

Having stated that, I fully expect that Rozier will have offensive success versus this Dallas defense tonight.

Pro-Bam Adebayo $13,000

In my opinion, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo has provided his team the needed outstanding presence it needs to compete in today’s NBA. Through 61 games played this season, Adebayo has averaged 20.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, and four assists a game.

Additionally, the Mavericks have not exactly been a great defensive team versus the center position in 2024. More specifically, the Mavericks are currently ranked 20th in FanDuel points allowed to the center position.
