FanDuel MLB DFS Picks: Giants vs. Athletics 7/6/25
San Francisco Giants vs. Athletics
July 6, 2025 10:05 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with an interleague matchup featuring the San Francisco Giants and the Athletics. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the San Francisco Giants vs. Athletics game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.
FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules
Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.
Here are my FanDuel picks for this evening’s Giants vs. Athletics matchup.
FanDuel MLB DFS Picks
MVP-Lawrence Butler, Outfielder, Athletics $10,800
On Sunday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three-game interleague series featuring the San Francisco Giants and the Athletics.
How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The Athletics arrive at the third game of this three-game series with the San Francisco Giants playing below average baseball. The Athletics have lost five of the team’s last nine games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays four days ago.
Similar to the Athletics, the San Francisco Giants arrive at today’s game playing subpar baseball. The Giants have won five of the team’s last eight games played this season, including an 8-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week.
Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to tonight’s contest. Outfielder Lawrence Butler has been a standout performer for the Athletics this season. Having stated that, how has the veteran outfielder performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s examine Butler’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.
In the 73 games that Lawrence Butler has played for the Athletics in the 2025 MLB regular season, Butler has compiled a robust .255 batting average, 11 home runs, 26 walks, 35 RBIs (runs batted in), nine stolen bases and 38 runs scored, and a .366 OBP (On-Base Percentage).
More recently, in the Houston Astros 11-1 win over the Athletics last month, Lawrence Butler certainly played at a high level. In the Astros victory over the Athletics, Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler amassed three hits (one home run), one RBI and one run scored. It should also be noted that in the Astros defeat of the Athletics, Butler tallied a whopping 24.7 FanDuel points.
In my view, Lawrence Butler is the most likely player to accumulate the most FanDuel points in this MLB game. With that said, I am backing Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Jacob Wilson, Shortstop (Athletics) $9,200: Rafael Devers, Third Baseman (San Francisco Giants) $14,800: Brent Rooker, Outfielder (Athletics) $12,400.
