Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with an interleague matchup featuring the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the New York Mets vs. Boston Red Sox game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for tonight’s New York Mets vs. Boston Red Sox matchup.

FanDuel MLB Player Selections

MVP-Jarren Duran, Outfielder, Boston Red Sox $9,000

On Monday night, Major League Baseball presents the opening game of a three-game interleague series featuring the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox.

How are these two teams playing entering this evening’s interleague game? The Boston Red sox arrive at the first game of this three-game series with the New York Mets playing below average baseball. Let me be more specific. The Red Sox have lost five of the team’s last six games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including an embarrassing 14-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers one week ago.

Similar to the Boston Red Sox, the New York Mets are not playing well entering this MLB game. The Mets have lost three of the team’s last four games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 6-2 loss to the New York Yankees three days ago.

Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this interleague game. Outfielder Jarren Duran has been a solid performer for the Boston Red Sox this season. With that said, how has the veteran outfielder performed from a statistical standpoint? Let’s examine Duran’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In the 37 games that Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has played in the 2025 MLB regular season, Duran has compiled a robust .259 batting average, 54 hits (three home runs), seven walks, 27 RBIs (runs batted in), a .312 OBS (On-Base Percentage) and a .697 OPS (On-base Plus Slugging).

More recently, in the Boston Red Sox’s 7-6 win over the Atlanta Braves two days ago, Boston outfielder Jarren Duran certainly played at a high level. More specifically, in the Boston Red Sox’s victory over the Braves, Duran amassed two hits (one home run), four RBIs and one run scored. It should also be mentioned that in the Red Sox’s defeat of the Braves, Duran compiled a whopping 32.2 FanDuel points.

In my view, Jarren Duran’s reasonable FanDuel price of only $9,800 presents the best fantasy value on this MLB DFS slate. For that specific reason, I am rolling with Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran at the MVP position for this one game FanDuel MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Rafael Devers, Third Baseman (Boston Red Sox) $12,000: Brandon Nimmo, Outfielder (New York Mets) $8,400: David Hamilton, Second Baseman (Boston Red Sox) $4,200.
