Washington Nationals vs. San Francisco Giants
August 9, 2025 4:05 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Washington Nationals and the San Francisco Giants. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Washington Nationals vs. San Francisco Giants game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for today’s Nationals vs. Giants matchup.

FanDuel MLB DFS Picks

MVP-Heliot Ramos, Outfielder, San Francisco Giants $10,800

On Saturday afternoon, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game National League series featuring the Washington Nationals and the San Francisco Giants.

How are these two teams playing entering today’s game? The San Francisco Giants arrive at the second game of this three-game series with the Washington Nationals playing good baseball. The Giants have won five of the team’s last seven games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 4-2 win over the New York Mets last week.

Conversely, the Washington Nationals are playing below average baseball entering the second game of this National League series. The Nationals have lost eight of the team’s last nine games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including an embarrassing 14-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers six days ago.

Now that we have determined how both of these Major League Baseball teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to this this afternoon’s contest. Outfielder Heliot Ramos has been a solid performer for the San Francisco Giants this season. Let’s examine the veteran outfielder’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In the 114 games that outfielder Heliot Ramos has played for the San Francisco Giants in the 2025 MLB regular season, Ramos has compiled a rather impressive .271 batting average, 14 home runs, 42 walks, 51 RBIs (runs batted in), 61 runs scored, a .348 OBP (On-Base Percentage) and a .764 OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging).

Last month, in the San Francisco Giants 9-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves two days ago, Heliot Ramos played exceptionally well. More specifically, in the Giants win over the Braves, Ramos amassed two hits (one double) and one run scored. It should also be noted that in San Francisco’s defeat of the Braves, Ramos tallied 13.2 FanDuel points.

In my opinion, Heliot Ramos’s reasonable FanDuel price of only $10,800 presents the best fantasy value on this slate. For that specific reason, I am backing San Francisco Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Willy Adames, Shortstop (San Francisco Giants) $9,800: Rafael Devers, Third Baseman (San Francisco Giants) $13,400: Josh Bell, First Baseman (Washington Nationals) $8,400.
