Texas Rangers vs. Toronto Blue Jays
August 16, 2025 3:07 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with an American League matchup featuring the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Texas Rangers vs. Toronto Blue Jays game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.
FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules
Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.
Here are my FanDuel picks for this afternoon’s Rangers vs. Blue Jays matchup.
FanDuel MLB DFS Picks
MVP-Vladimir Guerrero Jr., First Baseman, Toronto Blue Jays $14,200
On Saturday afternoon, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game American League series featuring the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays.
How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The Toronto Blue Jays arrive at the second game of this three-game series with the Texas Rangers playing quality baseball. The Blue Jays have won four of the team’s last five games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers last week.
In direct contrast to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Texas Rangers are playing below average baseball entering this afternoon’s American League contest. The Rangers have lost seven of the team’s last eight games played this season, including a 6-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks three days ago.
Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to today’s contest. Talented first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has certainly been a standout contributor for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2025. Having stated that, how has Guerrero Jr. performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Guerrero Jr.’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.
In the 121 games that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has played for the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2025 MLB regular season, Guerreo Jr. has compiled a .300 batting average, 20 home runs, 70 walks, 67 RBIs (runs batted in), 82 runs scored, a .895 OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging) and a .398 OBP (On-Base Percentage) which ranks ninth in MLB.
What did we learn from the data just presented? Guerrero Jr. has the potential to post a high number of DFS points on any given night. I fully expect that trend to continue in this afternoon’s matchup with the Rangers.
In my opinion, Vladimir Guerreo Jr. is the most likely player to amass the most FanDuel points in this MLB game. With that said, I am backing Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Vladimir Guerreo Jr. at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like in this MLB regular season game (FanDuel price noted): Wyatt Langford, Outfielder (Texas Rangers) $12,200: Bo Bichette, Shortstop (Toronto Blue Jays) $9,800.
