Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays
June 5, 2025 7:35 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with an American League matchup featuring the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for this evening’s Rangers vs. Rays matchup.

FanDuel MLB DFS Picks

MVP-Brandon Lowe, Second Baseman, Tampa Bay Rays $7,200

On Wednesday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three-game American League series featuring the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s MLB game? The Tampa Bay Rays arrive at the third game of this three-game series with the Texas Rangers playing good baseball. The Rays have won nine of the team’s last 12 games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a dominant 16-3 victory over the Houston Astros five days ago.

In direct contrast to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Texas Rangers are not playing well entering tonight’s MLB game. More specifically, the Rangers have lost four of the team’s last six games played this season, including a 2-0 shutout loss to the Toronto Blue Jays last week.

Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s contest. Veteran second baseman Brandon Lowe has been a solid contributor for the Tampa Bay Rays this season. With that said, how has the talented second baseman performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Lowe’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In the 54 games that Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe has played in the 2025 MLB regular season, Lowe has compiled a .250 batting average, 54 hits (12 home runs), 15 walks, 33 RBIs (runs batted in), 32 runs scored and a .302% OBP (On-Base Percentage).

Last night, in the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 win over the Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay second baseman Brandon Lowe certainly played at a high level. In the Rays victory over the Rangers, Lowe amassed three hits (one home run), two RBIs and two runs scored. It should also be noted that in the Rays defeat of the Rangers, Lowe compiled 34.4 FanDuel points.

In my opinion, Brandon Lowe’s reasonable FanDuel price of only $7,200 presents the best fantasy value on this MLB DFS slate. Having stated that, I am backing Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandow Lowe at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Josh Lowe, Outfielder (Tampa Bay Rays) $12,800: Jake Burger, First Baseman (Texas Rangers) $9,400: Kameron Misner, Outfielder (Tampa Bay Rays) $4,800.
