Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays
May 1, 2025 7:07 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with an American League matchup featuring the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for tonight’s Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays matchup.

FanDuel MLB Player Selections

MVP-Rafael Devers, Third Baseman, Boston Red Sox $9,800

On Thursday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three-game American League series featuring the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s MLB game? The Boston Red Sox arrive at the third game of this three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays playing good baseball. More specifically, the Red Sox have won nine of the team’s last 14 games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a dominant 13-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians three days ago.

In direct contrast to the Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays are currently playing below average baseball entering this evening’s game. The Blue Jays have lost eight of the team’s last ten games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 7-0 shutout loss to the Houston Astros last week.

Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s contest. Third baseman Rafael Devers has been an essential part of the Boston Red Sox starting lineup this season. With that said, how has the veteran third baseman performed from a statistical standpoint? Let’s examine Devers’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In the 30 games that Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers has played in the 2025 MLB regular season, Devers has compiled a .230 batting average, 27 hits, five home runs, 24 walks, 19 RBIs (runs batted in), a .754 OPS (On-base Plus Slugging), a .354 OBP (On-Base Percentage) and 22 runs scored.

More recently, in the Boston Red Sox 13-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians, Boston third baseman Rafael Devers played exceptionally well. In the Red Sox victory over the Guardians, Devers amassed two hits, one RBI, two runs scored and one home run. It should also be mentioned that in the Red Sox’s defeat of the Guardians, Devers compiled a massive 24.9 FanDuel points.

In my view, Rafael Devers is the most likely player to accumulate the most FanDuel points in this MLB game. With that said, I am rolling with Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Alex Bregman, Third Baseman (Boston Red Sox) $13,400: Jarren Duran, Outfielder (Boston Red Sox) $12,200: Vladimir Guererro Jr., First Baseman (Toronto Blue Jays) $10,800.
