Cincinnati Reds vs. Colorado Rockies
April 25, 2025 8:40 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Cincinnati Reds and the Colorado Rockies. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Cincinnati Reds vs. Colorado Rockies game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for tonight’s Cincinnati Reds vs. Colorado Rockies matchup.

FanDuel MLB Player Selections

MVP-TJ Friedl, Outfielder, Cincinnati Reds $9,600

On Friday night, Major League Baseball presents the opening game of a three-game National League series featuring the Cincinnati Reds and the Colorado Rockies.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s National League game? The Cincinnati Reds arrive at the first game of this three-game series with the Colorado Rockies playing below average baseball. The Reds have lost four of the team’s last five games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 4-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals three days ago.

Similar to the Cincinnati Reds, the Colorado Rockies are not playing well entering this evening’s game. Let me be more specific. The Rockies have lost five of the team’s last eight games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including an 11-7 loss to the Seattle Mariners last week.

Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to tonight’s contest. Talented outfielder TJ Friedl has been a standout performer for the Cincinnati Reds this season. With that said, how has the veteran outfielder performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Friedl’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In 21 games that TJ Friedl has played for the Cincinnati Reds in the 2025 MLB regular season, Friedl has compiled a robust .294 batting average, 28 hits, one home run, 15 walks, ten RBIs (runs batted in), 11 runs scored, a .352 OBP (On-Base Percentage) and a .748 OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging).

Earlier this month, in the Baltimore Orioles 9-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds, TJ Friedl played exceptionally well. In the Orioles victory over the Reds, Friedl amassed four hits, two RBIs, one walk and one double. It should also be mentioned that in the Orioles defeat of the Reds, Friedl compiled a massive 25 FanDuel points.

In my view, TJ Friedl is the most likely player to accumulate the most FanDuel points in this MLB game.  For that specific reason, I am rolling with Cincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Elly De La Cruz, Shortstop (Cincinnati Reds) $14,200: Hunter Goodman, Catcher (Colorado Rockies) $10,000: Spencer Steer, Outfielder (Cincinnati Reds) $6,600.
