This week, the PGA Tour Champions travels to Jacksonville, Florida for the Constellation Furyk & Friends.
Before I discuss my favorite matchup bet for the first round of the 2022 Constellation Furyk & Friends let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour Champions.
Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average
- Padraig Harrington 68.50
- Miguel Angel Jimenez 68.78
- Ernie Els 69.09
- Jerry Kelly 69.15
- Bernhard Langer 69.29
Now that we have established who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the PGA Tour Champions (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite first round matchup bet for this week’s 2022 Constellation Furyk & Friends.
David Toms +140 over Rod Pampling, Scott Parel
Since the beginning of May, David Toms has played 12 tournaments on the PGA Tour Champions. In those 12 events just noted, David Toms has accumulated eight top 13 finishes, including a second place result at the 2022 Mitsubishi Electric Classic.
David Toms also checks the box for me when it comes to recent first round scores on the PGA Tour Champions. Since the beginning of July, Toms has played six tournaments on the PGA Tour Champions. Tom’s average first round score in the six events just mentioned was 68.6.
In summary, I am backing David Toms to defeat Rod Pampling and Scott Parel in this first round matchup bet.
