The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Seattle Mariners meet in MLB action from T-Mobile Park on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to build on a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Mariners on Tuesday. Corey Seager led the way by going 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Justin Turner added an RBI as well to cap off the Dodgers’ scoring as a team in the win. Austin Barnes went 2 for 2 at the dish and Chris Taylor added a base hit as the Dodgers mustered up just six hits as a team in the victory. Tony Gonsolin threw six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three, not factoring in the decision. Blake Treinen got the win to improve to 2-1 on the year in relief. Julio Urias will start here and is 2-0 with a 2.53 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. This will be Urias’ first career start against Seattle.
The Seattle Mariners will try to bounce back with some home cooking after Tuesday’s heartbreaker loss to Los Angeles. Tim Lopes accounted for Seattle’s lone RBI while Kyle Seager had a double. Kyle Lewis and Dylan Moore each had a base hit as well as the Mariners had just three hits as a team in the losing effort. Marco Gonzales deserved better after throwing seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out nine, not factoring in the decision. Dan Altavilla took the loss in relief to fall to 1-2 on the year. Taijuan Walker will start here and is 1-2 with a 4.05 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season. In his career, Walker is 2-1 with a 4.88 ERA against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is 7-0 in their last 7 games against the AL West and 22-4 in their last 26 games as a road favorite while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Seattle is 9-23 in their last 32 games overall and 7-21 in their last 28 games against the NL West while the under is 12-4 in their last 16 home games. Los Angeles is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Seattle while the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Seattle.
I get why the Dodgers are favored like this, it’s because of their name brand and their lineup and the fact they’re the better team side-by-side. However, Seattle’s gone toe-to-toe with the Dodgers over the last two games, going shot for shot on offense if needed, or battling in a pitcher’s duel when they had to there as well. I think Seattle’s due to steal a game at some point and I’m not a huge Julio Urias guy and Taijuan Walker had been one of the more underrated pitchers for me in recent memory when he’s able to stay healthy. I’ll take a shot with Seattle and the plus money here.
