2020-08-23 13:35:00 EDT

The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet Sunday in MLB action from PNC Park.

This will be the final installment of a three-game weekend series between these teams. The Pirates powered out a 7-2 victory on Friday. In the Saturday game two, Pittsburgh scored in five of eight frames in a dominant 12-5 win to go up 2-0 in the series. The Pirates will try for the sweep here. The Brewers had seven hits to Pittsburgh’s 14 in the Saturday loss. Things were okay until the bottom of the fourth inning, as Milwaukee gave up a 1-1 tie and allowed six unanswered runs over the next three frames. Keston Hiura had the big swing for the Brew Crew in that one, with a three-run homer in the seventh. Starter Josh Lindblom took the loss with 4.0 innings, six hits and three earned.

For the Sunday finale, Milwaukee will send RHP Corbin Burnes to the mound in the start. In five games (two starts) so far this year without a decision, Burnes has a 3.00 ERA with 29 Ks in 21.0 innings. Across his MLB career, Burnes is 8-5 with a 5.50 ERA and 134 strikeouts in 108.0 frames total.

Over on the Pirates’ side, they got a nice start out of Derek Holland in the win Saturday. He threw 5.0 innings with four hits, one earned, threw walks and five strikeouts. Colin Moran and Adam Frazier combined for six hits, four RBI and five runs.

For the Sunday game, Pittsburgh will send out JT Brubaker as the starter. In four games (two starts) and no decisions yet so far, Brubaker has a 4.91 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 11.0 innings. This is the 26-year-old’s first season of MLB activity.

The Brewers are 6-2 in their last eight Sunday games and 11-5 in their last 16 during game three of a series. Milwaukee is also 6-15 in the last 21 games versus a right-handed starter and 14-6 in their last 20 games as a road favorite.

Meanwhile, the Pirates are 21-43 in their last 64 games versus a right-handed starter and 15-37 in their last 52 versus the National League Central. Pittsburgh is 1-6 in their last seven Sunday games and the under is 5-0 in their last five Sunday games.

Pick: I’m going Brewers here. Burnes looked pretty good in his last outing, tossing five innings of one-run ball versus the Twins on Tuesday. His velocity stayed high in that one, and Burnes should be good for five or six frames here. As for Brubaker, he wasn’t as precise as usual in his last start, but should be okay here if he’s on point. He probably won’t stay in for more than a few innings though, and Milwaukee should have plenty of chances throughout the course of the game.
