Toronto Blue Jays vs. Philadelphia Phillies Game One – 9/18/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-18 16:05:00 EDT

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in game one of a double-header in MLB action from Sahlen Field on Friday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies will try to rebound from a 10-6 loss to the New York Mets in their last game. Bryce Harper had a pair of solo home runs while Alec Bohm and Didi Gregorius each went 2 for 4 with a solo home run, with Bohm adding a double as well. Jean Segura added a triple and an RBI and Adam Haseley had a base hit and an RBI as well to finish off the offense for Philadelphia in the losing effort. Aaron Nola allowed five runs on five hits while striking out seven over 5.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Brandon Workman took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the year as a result. Zach Eflin will start here and is 0-2 with a 15.95 ERA and 9 strikeouts against Toronto.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to bounce back after being shellacked by the Yankees to start the week, including a 10-7 loss in the series finale on Thursday. Bo Bichette went 2 for 5 with three RBIs while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a pair of solo home runs and a double, going 4 for 4 at the plate in the loss. Danny Jansen and Cavan Biggio each had an RBI to finish off Toronto’s scoring with Biggio chipping in a double. Travis Shaw added a double and Randal Grichuk added a base hit as well to finish off the Blue Jays’ offense in defeat. Chase Anderson took the loss in relief after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits while striking out four over 2.2 innings of work. Robbie Ray will start here and is 2-4 with a 6.85 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season. In his career, Ray is 3-1 with a 2.60 ERA and 28 strikeouts against the Mets.

Trends will be updated once they’ve been released.

So you have two teams in the Phillies and Blue Jays who haven’t been able to keep runs off of the board lately, who also have some offensive talent and can put runs on the board in their own right? Maybe it’s too obvious, but with a couple of disappointing pitchers like Eflin and Robbie Ray going here, I’m not sure how this one doesn’t go over, especially with the way runs are hanging on the board at Sahlen Field. Give me the over here.
