The Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds meet in an NL Central division matchup in MLB action from Great American Ballpark on Monday.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to build off of a 5-3 win over the Kansas City Royals last time out. Daniel Vogelbach had a pair of home runs, accounting for all five Brewer RBIs to make up Milwaukee’s scoring in the win while Ryan Braun also went 2 for 4 at the dish. Christian Yelich, Keston Hiura and Jace Peterson all had base hits as well to cap off the Brew Crew’s offense as a team in the win. Josh Lindblom got the victory to improve to 2-3 on the year after allowing one run on three hits over 5.1 innings of work. Brandon Woodruff is expected to start here and is 2-4 with a 3.45 ERA and 72 strikeouts this season. In his career, Woodruff is 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA and 35 strikeouts against Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati Reds will look to build off of a 7-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Aristides Aquino had a three-run home run while Mike Moustakas went 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Tucker Barnhart and Eugenio Suarez each had an RBI to finish off the scoring for the Reds in the win while Freddy Galvis went 2 for 2 with a double. Jesse Winker added a base hit as well as the Reds had just five hits as a team in the winning effort. Michael Lorenzen went just 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts, not factoring in the decision. Lucas Sims got the win to improve to 3-0 in relief this season. Luis Castillo will start here and is 3-5 with a 3.03 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. In his career, Castillo is 3-5 with a 3.70 ERA and 77 strikeouts against Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is 2-7 in their last 9 road games and 1-7 in their last 8 road games against a right-handed starter while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as a road underdog. Cincinnati is 5-0 in their last 5 games within the division and 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. The under is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Cincinnati.
Both of these teams have been picking up offensively lately, and I think both need it as well with both being in the thick of the playoff race right now. With that said, I think Castillo and Woodruff put their best foot forward here for their respective teams and I think a pitcher’s duel could be brewing (no pun intended) in this one, so I’ll side with the under as my free play for this game but my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium play that you can find here.
