2020-09-25 18:40:00 EDT

The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet in game one of a double-header in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Chase Field on Friday.

The Colorado Rockies will look to build off of a 5-4 win in extra innings over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Raimel Tapia had a pair of RBIs while Charlie Blackmon, Josh Fuentes and Ryan McMahon all went 2 for 5 with an RBI with McMahon adding a double as well. Trevor Story also went 2 for 6 with a double while Kevin Pillar had two hits and Garrett Hampson and Tony Wolters each had a base hit in the win. Chi Chi Gonzalez allowed three runs on eight hits with 4 strikeouts over 5.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Daniel Bard got the win to improve to 4-2 on the year while Jairo Diaz closed out the 9th for the final three outs and his 4th save of the season. Antonio Senzatela will start here and is 5-2 with a 3.13 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. In his career, Senzatela is 2-5 with a 6.02 ERA and 34 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will have had the day off on Thursday following a 7-3 win over Texas in their last matchup on Wednesday. Wyatt Mathisen led the charge, going 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs while Carson Kelly had two RBIs. Tim Locastro went 2 for 54 with a solo home run while Daulton Varsho added a double and an RBI to finish off the scoring for Arizona in the win. Eduardo Escobar went 2 for 4 and Ketel Marte had a double while Kole Calhoun and Nick Ahmed each had a base hit as well to finish off Arizona’s offense as a team in the winning effort. Alex Young gave up three runs on six hits while striking out five over five innings of work. Keury Melia got the win in relief of Young, improving to 2-0 on the year as a result. Zac Gallen starts here and is 2-2 witb a 3.00 ERA and 72 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gallen is 0-0 with a 2.65 ERA and 18 strikeouts against Colorado.

Trends will be updated once they’ve been released.

Even in a shorter, seven inning game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, I still think there are going to be fatigue issues with the Rockies here. Colorado’s travelling in from San Francisco for this game and a travel day isn’t what the doctor ordered for the Rockies coming into this series. Arizona hasn’t played great but Zac Gallen’s been the stopper for Arizona in that rotation and while Senzatela’s pitched well for the Rockies, I’m expecting a win for the host Diamondbacks to kick off the series here. Give me Arizona.
