Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros – 9/26/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-26 19:05:00 EDT

The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from Globe Life Field on Saturday.

The Houston Astros will look to rebound from a 5-4 loss in extra innings last time out. Alex Bregman had a home run and two RBIs while George Springer added a triple and an RBI and Yuli Gurriel added an RBI as well to finish off Houston’s scoring as a team in defeat. Josh ReddicK went 2 for 4 at the dish while Kyle Tucker and Carlos Correa each had a base hit to finish off the offense for Houston in the losing effort. Jose Urquidy threw seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts, not factoring in the decision. Enoli Paredes took the loss, falling to 3-3 on the year as a result. Lance McCullers Jr. will start here and is 3-3 with a 4.24 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. In his career, McCullers Jr. is 1-4 with a 4.65 ERA and 60 strikeouts against Texas.

The Texas Rangers will look to build on their win over Houston from Friday. Sam Huff led the way, going 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and two at the dish. Nick Solak, Joey Gallo and Ronald Guzman all had RBIs to finish of the scoring for the Rangers as a team in the victory. Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Eli White each had a base hit as well as the Rangers picked up the win. Kyle Cody threw five innings, allowing just one run on three hits, not factoring in the decision. Brett Martin got the win here to improve to 1-1 on the year as a result. Kyle Gibson will start here and is 2-6 with a 5.87 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gibson is 4-2 with a 2.90 ERA and 39 strikeouts against Houston.

Houston is 6-0 in their last 6 games following a loss and 4-1 in their last 5 games against a right-handed starter while the under is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games within the division. Texas is 18-41 in their last 59 games as an underdog and 2-5 in their last 7 games within the division while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 home games. The over is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings at Texas

It needed some kelp to get to the total on Friday, but looking at this pitching matchup alone, it’s going to get a lot easier. McCullers Jr. has a double-digit ERA on the road this season and Kyle Gibson IS 0-5 with an ERA around eight. I could easily see both starters getting touched up over the number as well.
