The Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees meet in MLB action from Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to rebound from a 7-2 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday. Rio Ruiz had a home run and two RBIs that made up all of Baltimore’s scoring as a team in the losing effort. Maikel Franco went 2 for 4 with a double and Ryan Mountcastle also went 2 for 4 as well while Trey Mancini had a double and Cedric Mullins had a base hit as well to finish off Baltimore’s offense in defeat. Dean Kremer took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits with five strikeouts over three innings of work. John Means will start here and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. In his career, Means is 1-2 with a.7.17 ERA and 21 strikeouts against the Yankees.
The New York Yankees will look to build on their big win over the Orioles from Tuesday night. Aaron Judge led the way, going 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs while Jay Bruce had a solo home run and Giancarlo Stanton went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Brett Gardner and Kyle Higashioka each had a double while Gio Urshela, Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu each had a base hit as well in the victory. Gerrit Cole got the win after tossing seven shutout innings, allowing four hits while striking out 13 on the way to the win. Jameson Taillon will make his Yankee debut here in what will be his first appearance since May of 2019. This will be Taillon’s first career start against Baltimore.
Baltimore is 65-147 in their last 212 road games and 55-121 in their last 176 games against the AL East while the under is 12-5 in their last 17 games against a team with a winning record. New York is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 80-31 in their last 11 home games while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. The over is 52-16-1 in the last 69 meetings between these two teams.
This is a tough one to call as Taillon’s the X-factor in his return fro injury. Either way, I think the Yankees are going to keep a tight leash on him and I think we’re going to see a conservative approach which lends itself to a lower-scoring game so give me the under here.
