The Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves meet in MLB action from Truist Park on Friday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be looking to continue their strong start after an 8-2 win over the Mets in their last matchup. J.T. Realmuto and Alec Bohm each had a three-run home run, while Rhys Hoskins went 3 for 5 with a solo home run and a pair of doubles and Bryce Harper went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI to cap off the scoring for the Phils’ in the winning effort. Andrew McCutchen added a triple while Didi Gregorius added a base knock of his own to finish off the offense for Philadelphia in the victory. Aaron Nola gave up one run on six hits with five strikeouts over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Connor Brogdon got the win in relief to improve to 3-0 on the year as a result. Zack Wheeler will start here and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. In his career, Wheeler is 7-5 with a 3.54 ERA and 96 strikeouts against the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves will be out to build on their double-header sweep of the Washington Nationals from Friday. Game one saw the Braves eke out a 7-6 win where Travis d’Arnaud had a double and two RBIs while Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies and even Max Fried got in on the scoring action. Fried would take a no decision after allowing five runs on eight hits in two innings of work, but Josh Tomlin got the win in relief and Will Smith closed the deal for the save in game one. Game two saw the Braves squeak out a 2-0 win where Pablo Sandoval’s pinch-hit home run in the 7th was the difference as the Braves had just three hits as a team in that one. Huascar Ynoa threw five shutout innings, giving up just two hits with 5 strikeouts, not factoring in the decision while Luke Jackson got the win to improve to 1-0 while Sean Newcomb struck out the side in the 7th for the save. Charlie Morton will start here and is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. In his career, Morton is 2-4 with a 6.08 ERA and 41 strikeouts against the Phillies.

Philadelphia is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 division games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog. Atlanta is 53-21 in their last 74 games as a home favorite and 0-4 in their last 4 division games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

This should be a great series between two of the better lineups in not just the NL East, but in the league. With that said, while most would expect an offensive showcase here, I think Wheeler and Morton come to battle. Both were solid in their season debuts and I think they only get better here. I think the duel is for real in this one so I’ll back the under.
