The Seattle Mariners and the Minnesota Twins meet in MLB action from Target Field on Saturday.

The Seattle Mariners will look to rebound from a 10-2 loss to the Twins in their last matchup. Jose Marmolejos had a solo home run while Ty France went 2 for 4 at the dish with an RBi of his own to round out the pair of RBIs for Seattle in the losing effort. Luis Torrens went 3 for 4 at the dish with a double while Mitch Haniger had a base hit as well to cap off the offense for Seattle in defeat. Marco Gonzales took the loss, falling to 0-1 after allowing seven earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work. Yusei Kikuchi will start here and is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kikuchi is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 10 strikeouts against the Twins.

The Minnesota Twins will look to add to their beatdown win over the Mariners in their last outing. Mitch Garver and Luis Arraez each had three RBIs with Garver belting a three-run home run and a double while Arraez had a two-run shot. Byron Buxton had a solo home run and a double, going 3 for 5 at the dish while Kyle Garlick had a double and an RBI and Miguel Sano and Max Kepler each had an RBI as well to finish off Minnesota’s scoring as a team in the win. Jorge Polanco also contributed a two-bagger while Andrelton Simmons went 3 for 5 at the dish. Willians Astudillo and Nelson Cruz each had a base hit as well in the victory for Minnesota. Jose Berrios got the win after allowing just two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings in the winning effort to improve to 2-0 on the year. Michael Pineda will start here and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. In his career, Pineda is 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 27 strikeouts against Seattle.

Seattle is 33-67 in their last 100 road games and 31-63 in their last 94 games as a road underdog while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter. Minnesota is 7-0 in their last 7 games against a left-handed starter and 5-1 in their last 6 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the AL West. Seattle is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

Kikuchi looked really good in his first start, but we’ve also never seen that kind of effort from him so it’s hard to know what to expect in the follow-up. What I do know is that Kikuchi’s also been far from reliable in years past, and has issues with stronger lineups and the Twins have one of the most powerful lineups in all of baseball. It’s a fair bit of juice to lay, so I’ll back the Twins -1.5 as I think the Twins win this one somewhere in the area of 5-3 or something along those lines.
