The New York Mets and the Colorado Rockies meet Saturday in MLB action from Coors Field.

This will be the second installment of a Saturday doubleheader and the second in a three-game set between these teams this weekend. The Friday game was postponed due to weather. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York played the Phillies this week and did well. The Mets took all three games of that set, 4-3, 4-0 and 5-1. New York hasn’t played since Wednesday; in that 5-1 victory the Mets’ David Peterson posted 6.0 innings with two hits, one earned and 10 strikeouts.

For the Saturday starting pitcher role, the Mets will go with Joey Lucchesi. So far this year Luchessi has made one appearance (against the Phillies), going 2.0 innings with one hit, no earned and three strikeouts.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they played a series versus the Dodgers this week, losing all three games 7-0, 4-2 and 7-5. In the Thursday loss, Colorado starter Austin Gomber put up 6.0 innings with six hits, three earned, two walks and seven strikeouts.

For the Saturday game two, the Rockies will go with German Marquez. In his three games so far this year, Marquez has a 4.02 ERA with 17 hits, seven earned, three homers, 11 walks and 14 strikeouts in 15.2 total innings of work.

The Mets are 10-3 in their last 13 in game two of a series and 8-3 in their last 11 versus the NL West. The over is 16-5 in the Mets’ last 21 road games and 15-5-2 in their last 22 versus the NL West.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are 6-2 in their last eight versus the National League East and 17-39 in their last 56 overall. Colorado is 1-4 in their last five Saturday games and the under is 7-1 in their last eight overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a shot on the Rockies in this one. Lucchesi posted a nice relief effort in his lone outing this year with two scoreless innings. The Mets will likely be cautious with his length in this one, however. As for Marquez, he had a rough first inning versus the Giants in his last game, but eventually found his command and got into the sixth inning. I like another good outing from Marquez in a potential Rockies victory here.
