The San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies meet in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Coors Field on Wednesday.

The San Diego Padres will look to rebound from an 8-4 loss to the Rockies on Tuesday. Fernando Tatis Jr. had a home run and two RBIs while Yu Darvish and Vic Caratini each had an RBI to cap off the scoring for the Padres in the losing effort. Jurickson Profar and Manny Machado each had a double while Tommy Pham, Eric Hosmer and Jake Cronenworth all had base hits as well to finish off the offense for San Diego in the defeat. Darvish allowed four runs on six hits while striking out five over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Tim Hill ended up with the loss in relief to fall to 3-3 on the year. Blake Snell will start here and is 2-3 with a 4.97 ERA and 84 strikeouts this season. In his career, Snell is 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA and 40 strikeouts against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will look to build off of their win over the Padres from Tuesday night. Ryan McMahon led the charge, going 3 for 3 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs while Raimel Tapia had a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Yonathan Daza added a double and an RBI as well and Brendan Rodgers added an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for the Rox in the winning effort. Garrett Hampson had a triple and Trevor Story added a double while C.J. Cron added a base hit as well to round out Colorado’s offense as a team in the win. Chi Chi Gonzalez went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits, not factoring in the decision while Carlos Estevez got the win to improve to 1-0 on the year. Kyle Freeland will start here and is 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA and 9 strikeouts this season. In his career, Freeland is 3-3 with a 3.58 ERA and 49 strikeouts against San Diego.

San Diego is 1-5 in their last 6 games as a favorite and 1-6 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 road games. Colorado is 9-2 in their last 11 home games and 18-37 in their last 55 games as an underdog while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record.

I get the case that could be made for both sides as San Diego has the pitching edge but the Rockies play far, far better at home compared to their play on the road. Instead, I’m going to side with the over. Snell hasn’t been going deep into games and it’s fatigued a not so good Padres’ bullpen, while Kyle Freeland’s had issues since coming back from a shoulder injury in limited appearances this season. I think the balls will be flying at Coors Field once again, so give me the over here.
