The Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets meet Sunday in MLB action from Citi Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game weekend set between these teams. The Mets took a shutout win in the Friday opener, then on Saturday the Jays evened it up with a big victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Toronto couldn’t find much offense in the Friday game, falling 3-0 after just three team hits. In the Saturday game two, the Jays had three runs in three different innings on the way to a 10-3 result. Hyun-jin Ryu logged 4.1 innings with 10 hits, three earned and one walk.
For the Sunday game three, the Blue Jays will go with Ross Stripling as the starter. In his 75.0 innings so far this year, Stripling has 73 hits, 43 runs (42 earned) 18 homers allowed, 25 walks, 78 Ks and a 5.04 ERA.

Over on the Mets’ side, they jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning on Friday and didn’t look back. In the Saturday game, the Mets scored all their runs in the fifth inning and lost despite 14 hits. Taijuan Walker managed 4.0 innings with eight hits and six earned runs.
For Sunday’s starter job, the Mets will send out Rich Hill. Across his 6-4 record so far, Hill has a 3.87 ERA with 91 strikeouts.

The Blue Jays are 6-1 in their last seven Sunday games and 14-3 in their last 17 versus the NL East. Toronto is 3-13 in their last 16 interleague road games versus a team with a winning record and the under is 4-1 in their last five Sunday games.

Meanwhile, the Mets are 14-4 in their last 18 versus a team with a winning record and 23-10 in their last 33 home games. New York is 2-5 in their last seven Sunday games and 51-25 in their last 76 at home versus a right-handed starter.

PICK: I think I’m going to stick with the Mets in this one. Stripling has had a couple of bad starts in his last two appearances, posting a total of 10 earned runs on eight hits and five homers in a span of just 4.0 innings. Early this month Stripling had a good run going but hasn’t been able to find it lately. He’s also given up 10 home runs in his last seven outings. New York should have some opportunities here.
