The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Wednesday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium. The Diamondbacks look for a win after losing six of their last eight games. The Dodgers look to build on their five-game winning streak.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last six games. The Diamondbacks have lost six of their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Pavin Smith leads the Diamondbacks with 123 hits and 45 RBI while Josh Rojas and David Peralta have combined for 231 hits and 98 RBI. Madison Bumgarner gets the ball, and he is 7-10 with a 4.66 ERA and 112 strikeouts this season. Bumgarner is 15-15 with a 2.77 ERA and 225 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have scored 21 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last nine games. The Dodgers have won seven of their last nine games when scoring four or more runs. Justin Turner leads the Dodgers with 132 hits and 81 RBI while Chris Taylor and Max Muncy have combined for 237 hits and 157 RBI. Julio Urias gets the ball, and he is 17-3 with a 2.98 ERA and 175 strikeouts this season. Urias is 5-1 with a 1.47 ERA and 30 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are 6-13 in their last 19 Wednesday games and 13-38 in their last 51 during game 3 of a series. The Dodgers are 6-1 in their last 7 Wednesday games and 99-46 in their last 145 during game 3 of a series. The over is 8-2 in Diamondbacks last 10 overall. The under is 19-5-3 in Dodgers last 27 overall. The Diamondbacks are 17-51 in the last 68 meetings in Los Angeles.
We know the Dodgers should be favored with the way they’re playing and it doesn’t hurt to have Urias on the mound. With that said, this is a lot of plus money to turn down with Bumgarner, a pitcher who has had a lot of career success against the Dodgers and is actually allowing a .237 batting average through 213 at bats against current hitters. I’m not thrilled about backing the Diamondbacks as much as the next man, but this line has some value.
