The Washington Nationals and the Colorado Rockies meet Wednesday in MLB action from Coors Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. The Nationals eked out a win in the Monday opener, then on Tuesday Colorado evened it up with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Washington posted three runs in the fourth inning on Monday, hanging on for a 5-4 victory. In the Tuesday game two the Nationals had seven team hits in a 3-1 defeat. Starter Patrick Corbin put up 6.0 innings with two earned runs on six hits and three walks.

For the starter job in the Wednesday finale the Nationals will send out Paolo Espino. In 107.2 innings this year Espino has 104 hits, 49 runs (48 earned), 18 homers allowed, 24 walks, 92 Ks and a 4.01 ERA.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they nearly came back from a 4-0 deficit in the Monday game but ultimately fell short. On Tuesday, Colorado managed nine hits in the win. Kyle Freeland managed 6.2 innings with one earned, four walks and six hits.

For the starter slot on Wednesday the Rockies will go with Peter Lambert. This year Lambert has just one start in the books, going 3.2 innings with two strikeouts.

The Nationals are 11-4 in their last 15 Wednesday games and 16-36 in their last 52 overall. Washington is 12-28 in their last 40 road games and 4-11 in their last 15 in game three of a series.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games and 0-5 in their last five in game three of a series. Colorado is also 21-46 in their last 67 with a total of 7.0-8.5.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Washington. We don’t have much data on Lambert yet outside of his 3.2 innings, four hits, one walk and two earned against the Giants a few days back. He’s a career 7.16-ERA pitcher over 20 big-league games, though. As for Espino, he’s given up just four earned on 14 hits in 16.2 innings over his last three. I like Espino to keep it going here.
