The New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Truist Park on Saturday.
The New York Mets will look to build off of their 4-3 win over the Braves from Friday night. Pete Alonso leads the Mets across the board with team-highs of 37 home runs, 93 RBIs and 146 hits as well as 26 doubles with a .263 batting average and a .342 OBP. Alonso also has a team-high 3 triples but after Alonso, only Francisco Lindor, who has 20 home runs and 63 RBIs, has more than 18 homers and 58 RBIs this season. Carlos Carrasco is expected to start here and is 1-4 with a 5.73 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season.
The Atlanta Braves will be out to bounce back from a disappointing showing in Friday’s loss. Freddie Freeman leads the Braves with a .393 OBP and 177 hits with 31 home runs while Austin Riley has a .303 batting average and 33 home runs with 105 RBIs. Ozzie Albies has a team-high 104 as well with 30 homers on the year as well as 38 doubles.
New York is 4-11 in their last 15 games overall and 5-26 in their last 31 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games within the division. Atlanta is 10-1 in their last 11 games overall and 26-9 in their last 35 division games while the under is 9-3-1 in their last 13 game two matchups.
This is a bit of a toughie to call as you have the Mets who would lke to finish the season strong going up against an Atlanta team that’s trying to build confidence day by day. With that said, I’m siding with Atlanta here as they’re the team simply playing with more confidence coming into this game and I just don’t particularly like the direction of the Mets, even this late in the year. Give me the Braves in this one.
