In this article we will formulate an Arizona Diamondbacks vs Miami Marlins prediction for this MLB game on Saturday, May 25th at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game two in the series.

Arizona Looking for Consistency

The Arizona Diamondbacks are 24-27 this season and they have won three of their last five games. Arizona lost game one in this series on Friday night, when they were shutout. Prior to this series, the Diamondbacks won two out of three against the Dodgers, lost two out of three against Detroit, and won two out of three against Cincinnati. Arizona has lost five of their last nine games and they are currently fourth in the NL West behind the Dodgers, Giants, and Padres.

The Arizona pitching staff has a 4.35 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and a .256 opponent batting average. The Diamondbacks offense has scored 241 runs with a .245 batting average and a .316 on base percentage. Ketel Marte is batting .286 with 10 home runs and 27 RBI’s for the Diamondbacks this season. Arizona is 22nd in team ERA and they are ninth in runs scored this season, as they have scored at least four runs in four of their last five games.

Marlins Continue to Pick Up Wins

The Miami Marlins are 18-34 this year and they have won three of their last four games. Miami won game one in this series by a score of 3-0 on Friday night. Prior to this series, the Marlins won two out of three against Milwaukee, won two out of three against the Mets, and won two out of three against Detroit. Miami has won seven of their last nine games, but they are still last in the NL East behind the Phillies, Braves, Nationals, and Mets.

The Miami pitching staff has a 4.75 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and a .252 opponent batting average. The Marlins offense has scored 196 runs with a .232 batting average and a .289 on base percentage. Bryan De La Cruz is batting .259 with nine home runs and 25 RBI’s for the Marlins this season. Miami is 29th in team ERA and they are 25th in runs scored this year, but they have allowed two runs or fewer in six of their last nine games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Arizona is Jordan Montgomery, who is 2-2 with a 4.98 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP over 34.1 innings pitched this year. Montgomery has allowed three earned runs or fewer in three of his last five starts, but did allow 10 earned runs and 11 hits in the other two outings. The projected starting pitcher for Miami is Sixto Sanchez, who is 0-2 with a 6.41 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP over 26.2 innings pitched this year. Sanchez has allowed two earned runs or fewer in two of his last three starts, but has only gone 4.0, 4.2, and 4.0 innings.

Why the Arizona Diamondbacks will win

The Marlins have lost 10 of their last 11 road games against NL West opponents following a road win.
The Diamondbacks have won 13 of their last 15 home games against National League opponents following a loss.
The Marlins have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine road games against National League opponents following a road win.
The Diamondbacks have covered the run line in five of their last six night games against the Marlins at Chase Field following a loss.

Total Runs Facts

Six of the last seven games between the Marlins and Diamondbacks have gone UNDER the total runs line.
Four of the Marlins’ last five road games have gone UNDER the total runs line.
The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Diamondbacks’ last 11 night games.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Miami Marlins Prediction

Arizona had Zac Gallen on the mound on Friday night, but they couldn’t get him any run support and they were shutout in the loss. The Diamondbacks have not been able to pick up much momentum this season and they are only 12-14 at home. Miami has one of the worst records in baseball, but they have been red hot over the last 10 games and their pitching staff has really bounced back. Miami is starting Sixto Sanchez, who has high expectations, but he hasn’t impressed me. Arizona is going with Montgomery, who has been a disappointment early in the season. I don’t love the pitching matchup, but I am going to take Montgomery over Sanchez. My Arizona Diamondbacks vs Miami Marlins prediction is for the Diamondbacks to win by at least two runs.
