New York Mets
The Mets had some trouble with the Blue Jays this past weekend, falling 3-0, 2-1 and 6-4. In the Sunday finale, New York starter Kodai Senga lasted just 2.2 innings with three earned on four hits and five walks.
For the starter job on Tuesday the Mets will send out Carlos Carrasco. In his six starts this year Carrasco is 2-2 with a 5.74 ERA and 19 Ks in 31.1 innings. Carrasco is 106-87 with a 3.91 ERA in 289 career games (242 starts).
Over on the Braves’ side, they lost to the Diamondbacks 3-2 on Friday but came back for wins 5-2 and 8-5 in the next pair. Atlanta’s Michael Soroka gave up five earned on seven hits and four walks in 3.2 innings in the Sunday game.
Starter for Tuesday will be Atlanta’s Bryce Elder. In his 11 starts this year Elder is 3-0 with a 1.92 ERA and 56 Ks in 65.2 innings. Elder is 5-4 with a 2.48 ERA in 21 games (20 starts) over his career.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll try the Mets here. Carrasco is on a nice run over his last couple of games, giving up a combined two earned on 11 hits and three walks in 12.2 innings—both wins. As for Elder, he should do well here also. Elder has a combined four earned on 19 hits and five walks in his last 19.1 innings, but doesn’t have a decision in his last trio. I like a fun starter battle in this one as the Mets eke out a victory (so long as the offense gets going late). Should be a good one to watch.
