The Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Truist Park on Friday night.
The Philadelphia Phillies will look to rebound from a 5-3 loss to the Miami Marlins in Thursday’s series finale. Nick Castellanos has 132 hits with 27 doubles and 61 RBIs while Kyle Schwarber also has team-highs of 38 home runs and 80 RBIs as well this season. Alec Bohm’s posting a .289 batting average and a team-high 148 hits while Rhys Hoskins has 28 home runs and 71 RBIs so far this season. J.T. Realmuto also has 77 RBIs as well this season. Ranger Suarez will start here and is 9-5 with a 3.62 ERA and 114 strikeouts this season.
The Atlanta Braves will hope to bounce back after a 4-1 loss to San Francisco last time out. Matt Olson has 131 hits with a .239 batting average and a team-high 41 doubles while Marcell Ozuna has 96 hits with 15 doubles, 21 home runs and 50 RBIs. Austin Riley has 153 hits with 36 doubles, 36 home runs and 90 RBIs and Dansby Swanson also has 87 RBIs of his own as well as a .282 batting average and 159 hits this season. Max Fried will start here and is 13-6 with a 2.50 ERA and 155 strikeouts this season.
Philadelphia is 5-1 in their last 6 division games and 21-8 in their last 29 series-opening games while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 road games. Atlanta is 22-7 in their last 29 series-opening games and 51-25 in their last 76 division games while the over is 8-1-2 in their last 11 Friday games.
I get the reasoning for backing either side here, but I’m looking at the over here. I’m not fond of Ranger Suarez as he’s been getting roughed up on the road here and there and had issues with Atlanta earlier this season. On the other side, Max Fried is still the staff ace for the Braves, but he’s had issues with Philly as well and is prone to giving up a couple of runs here and there, and I feel that if the starters don’t get us there, the bullpens will. Give me the over.
