The Kansas City Royals and the Baltimore Orioles meet Tuesday in MLB action from Oriole Park. This will be the second installment in a four-game series this week. In the Monday opener, the Royals eked out a one-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kansas City played the White Sox over the weekend, losing Saturday but otherwise winning the other two games. In the Monday matchup versus the Orioles, the Royals fell behind 2-1 after the fifth inning, but surged late in the game en route to a 3-2 victory.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game, the Royals will send out Jackson Kowar. In his 11.0 innings so far this year Kowar has 16 hits, 12 earned runs, one homer allowed, eight walks, eight Ks and a 9.82 ERA.

Over on the Orioles’ side, they had a nice series versus the Yankees this past weekend with two one-run wins. On Monday, Baltimore had seven team hits in the loss. Starter Zac Lowther put up 6.0 innings with three hits, two walks and one earned run.

For the starter slot in the Tuesday game, the Orioles will send out Alexander Wells. This year Wells is 1-2 with a 7.71 ERA and 15 strikeouts.

The Royals are 29-67 in their last 96 versus the AL East and the under is 21-7-1 in their last 29 with a total of 9.0-10.5. The under is 15-6 in KC’s last 21 road games as well.

Meanwhile, the Orioles are 26-53 in their last 79 Tuesday games and 20-47 in their last 67 home games. Baltimore is 22-53 in their last 75 versus the AL Central and 28-76 in their last 104 overall.

PICK: I’m sticking with the Orioles. Kowar doesn’t have a whole lot of MLB experience to his credit, but he’s been getting steadily better. Kowar started out with eight earned in 2.0 innings on eight hits and five walks over his first two starts. Since then he’s posted four earned din 9.0 innings on eight hits and three walks. That said, I like Baltimore to find some early success here and power out a victory.
