The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles meet Monday in MLB action from Oriole Park. Here’s a Baltimore Orioles vs NY Yankees prediction. This will be the first installment in a four-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

The Yankees took on the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend. New York lost 7-6 on Friday but bounced back for a win 15-3 in game two. In the Sunday rubber match, the Yankees scored a whopping seven runs in the sixth inning and had 18 team hits in an eventual 15-5 blowout win. Marcus Stroman put up 4.0 innings in the starting role with four earned, six hits and five walks.

In the starting pitcher slot for the Monday matchup, the Yankees will send out Clarke Schmidt. This year Schmidt is 2-0 with a 3.55 ERA over five starts. He has 29 Ks in 25.1 innings. In his career Schmidt is 16-15 with a 4.28 ERA in 72 games (42 starts).

Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview

Over on the Orioles’ side, they played the Oakland Athletics in their last set. Baltimore also split the first pair 3-2 (loss) and 7-0 (win). On Sunday the Orioles gave away a 6-4 lead and eventually lost 7-6. Starter Albert Suarez finished with 4.0 innings, four earned, seven hits and a walk.

As starting pitcher for Monday’s opener, Baltimore will send out Grayson Rodriguez. In five starts total this year Rodriguez is 3-1 with a 4.45 ERA and 34 Ks in 28.1 innings. Over his career in the MLB Rodriguez is 10-5 with a 4.37 ERA in 28 starts.

Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees Prediction

I’ll try the Yankees in this one. Schmidt had a few bumpy spots in his last outing versus the A’s, posting 5.1 innings with three earned on four hits and two walks. Prior to that Schmidt had just two earned runs in 10.1 innings on 10 hits and five walks. As for Rodriguez, he needs a good bounce-back performance here. On April 23 versus the Angels, Rodriguez took the loss with seven earned on 11 hits and a walk in 4.1 frames.

On Sunday the Yankees got some great offensive performances across the board. Anthony Volpe (homer; two runs), Aaron Judge (homer; three hits) and Jose Trevino (two hits; run) each had three RBI. Anthony Rizzo went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI of his own. Stroman had some issues in the fifth inning but outside of that the pitching wasn’t too bad. I like the Yankees to keep it going on Monday.
