Oakland played the Nationals this week, winning Tuesday before dropping the other two games. On Friday, the A’s gave up three runs in the eighth during a 5-2 loss. Starter JP Sears logged 6.0 innings with two earned, six hits and a walk.
For the starter job in the Saturday game, the A’s are sending out Adam Oller. In 17 games (12 starts) so far Oller is 2-6 with a 5.66 ERA. In 68.1 innings he has 43 earned on 70 hits and 34 walks with 40 strikeouts.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they managed to win two of three from the Guardians this week for a series victory. On Friday, Baltimore had nine hits in the win. Dean Kremer managed 6.0 innings as starter with two earned, five hits and a walk.
Austin Voth will take the mound for the O’s in the Saturday game. Over his 16 games (12 starts) this year Voth is 4-2 with a 2.72 ERA. In his 59.2 innings total he has 18 earned on 49 hits and 19 walks with 51 Ks.
PICK: I’m going to go with Baltimore in this one but staying away. Voth is on a nice roll right now. In his last three starts, Voth has put up just three earned in 17.2 combined innings on 10 hits and seven walks. He’s a tepid 1-1 in that stretch however, so Voth will need some help from the Baltimore bats. If he can get it, the O’s should have a clear path to a victory here. Oller should do well on the other side though, so this one could be tight.
