The Oakland A’s and the Baltimore Orioles meet Friday in MLB action from Camden Yards. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s an Oakland A’s vs. Baltimore Orioles prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Oakland A’s will be sending Ross Stripling to the mound here and he is 0-5 with a 5.34 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. In his career, Stripling is 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season. Corbin Burnes will get the start for the Baltimore Orioles here and is 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season. This will be Burnes’ first career start against Oakland.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s come into the weekend series looking to build some steam after salvaging a four-game series split with the Yankees. The A’s won Thursday’s series finale against the Bronx Bombers 3-1, earning the split to bounce back after starting the road trip by being swept at the hands of the Cleveland Guardians the series prior. The A’s were outhit 11-6 in the loss and rode a 3-run 3rd inning to the finish line as the pitching held up for Oakland the rest of the way.

Langeliers Leads Lifeless A’s Offense

Shea Langeliers leads the A’s with 5 home runs and 11 RBIs while Zack Gelof has a team-high 33 strikeouts as well as 4 stolen bases this season. JJ Bleday has a team-high 21 hits with 5 doubles and J.D. Davis, Ryan Noda, Seth Brown and Lawrence Butler also have 3 doubles as well this season.

Oakland Athletics Team Facts

  • The Athletics have lost each of their last six road games against AL East opponents following a win.
  • The Athletics have covered the run line six of their last seven games against AL East opponents that held a winning record.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Athletics’ last four games at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
  • The Athletics have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last five Friday games against AL East opponents that held a winning record.

Baltimore Orioles Recap

The Baltimore Orioles enter this series looking to keep the ball rolling with wins in 8 of their last 10 after a 6-5 win over the Angels on Wednesday gave the Orioles another series win, taking down the Royals and Twins in the series prior. Wednesday’s decision got a bit dicey after the Orioles at one point had a 6-0 lead, and 3 runs in the 6th as well as runs in the 8th and 9th made things a tad close for comfort, but in the end, the Orioles did enough to hold on and secure the win.

Orioles’ Offense Dangerous Across The Board

Adley Rutschman leads the Orioles with 32 hits while Gunnar Henderson has 30 hits. Ryan Mountcastle has a team-high 7 doubles while Henderson has a team-high 8 home runs, 20 RBIs, 3 triples and 26 strikeouts. Jordan Westburg also has 18 RBIs and Henderson and Cedric Mullins each have a team-high 5 stolen bases as well this season.

Baltimore Orioles Team Facts

  • The Orioles have lost three of their last four games as home favorites against AL West opponents following a win.
  • The Orioles have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six home games against American League opponents following a road win.
  • The Orioles have led after 3 innings in each of their last five home games.
  • The Orioles have trailed after 5 innings in four of their last six games as home favorites against AL West opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Orioles’ last four games as home favorites against AL West opponents.

A’s vs. Orioles Prediction

I’m on the Orioles -1.5 here. This is just a seismic mismatch from a starting pitching perspective and I trust the Orioles’ offense to do a lot more damage than I trust Oakland’s offense to be able to break through against the Orioles and their new staff ace. Burnes has been every bit as good as advertised so far this season and I don’t see any way that Oakland keeps this game close. Give me Baltimore -1.5.
