The Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox meet on Tuesday in MLB action from the Rogers Centre. Here’s a Blue Jays vs Red Sox prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Blue Jays vs Orioles pick.

What a Season So Far For the Blue Jays

It has been quite the season for the Blue Jays so far this season and it still feels like not enough people are talking about how they might be a true contender this season. On Sunday, the Blue Jays faced off against the Kansas City Royals, and the offense was impressive scoring eight runs on the way to the win. The Blue Jays scored three runs in the second inning, and never looked back on the way to the win. Andres Gimenez and Vladimir Guerrero Jr both finished with two hits and two RBIs. Trey Yesavage went four innings, and gave up five hits and four runs. The bullpen then came in and locked down.

The Blue Jays are averaging 4.92 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.5 runs per game. The offense is ranked 5th while the pitching is ranked 19th. As a team, they are batting .266 which is the best in all of baseball. Getting the start for the Blue Jays will be Kevin Gausman who sits with a 10-10 record and an ERA of 3.38. Against the Rays in his last start he went six innings giving up six hits and one run. Over his last four starts he has gone 30 innings total and given up only three runs total.

Why the Blue Jays Will Beat the Red Sox

  • The Blue Jays have won eight of their last nine home games against AL East opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Red Sox have lost each of their last five road games against the Blue Jays following a road loss.
  • The Blue Jays have covered the run line in eight of their last nine games at Rogers Centre against AL East opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Red Sox have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four night games against the Blue Jays following a loss.
  • The Red Sox have trailed after 5 innings in four of their last five games against American League opponents.

Disappointing Loss for the Red Sox

It was a disappointing loss for the Red Sox on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. The pitching wasn’t good enough giving up seven runs, and that led to the defeat. Connelly Early wasn’t good with the start, but the bullpen continued to give up the runs, and that has to be the bigger concern. They can’t have the bullpen giving up three or four runs a night and expect to win many games. Romy Gonzalez did have a huge game finishing with two hits, two walks, and one RBI. Alex Bregman also had the same stat line.

The Red Sox are averaging 4.94 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.23 runs per game. The offense is ranked 6th in all of baseball, while the pitching is ranked 11th. Lucas Giolito gets the start for the Red Sox and he sits with a 10-4 record and an ERA of 3.46. Against the Athletics in his last start he went 4.1 innings giving up five hits and four runs.

Why the Red Sox Will Beat the Blue Jays

  • The Blue Jays have lost each of their last four games as favorites against American League opponents following a road win.
  • The Red Sox have won five of their last six games as underdogs against the Blue Jays.
  • The Blue Jays have failed to cover the run line in each of their last 11 Tuesday night games as favorites against AL East opponents.
  • The underdogs have covered the run line in nine of the last 10 games between the Red Sox and Blue Jays.
  • The Blue Jays have trailed after 5 innings in three of their last four games as favorites.
  • The Blue Jays have trailed after 3 innings in four of their last five home games against AL East opponents.

Blue Jays vs Red Sox Prediction

The Blue Jays are the better team, and they are going to have no issue getting the job done in this game. Gausman is on the mound for the Blue Jays and he has been dominant. He has given up only three runs total over his last four starts and he’s going to dominate in a major way again here. Giolitio hasn’t been as sharp his last couple of games, and that is going to be a major problem again here. The Red Sox won’t score more than a run or two here, and the Blue Jays will come out on top. Back the Blue Jays on the money line.
