The Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox meet Monday in MLB action from Fenway Park. Baltimore just finished up against the Astros. The Orioles won two of the first three games in that set, then on Sunday the O’s lost by three runs in extras. As for Boston, they played the Yankees over the weekend. The Sox lost the first three games, and in the finale Boston took a shutout loss in a shortened game. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Baltimore took out the Astros 2-0 and 6-0 in their first two games, then lost a wild 11-10 result on Saturday. In the Sunday finale the Orioles gave up four runs in the 11th inning in a tough 6-3 loss. Austin Voth managed 5.0 innings, one earned, four hits and six Ks.

Jordan Lyles will take the mound for the Orioles on Monday. Over his 30 starts so far Lyles is 11-11 with a 4.50 ERA. In 170.0 innings total he has 85 earned, 187 hits, 50 walks and 135 Ks.

Over on the Red Sox’ side, they lost to the Yankees 5-4 Thursday, 5-4 Friday and 7-5 Saturday. In the Sunday game Boston put up a shortened 2-0 loss. The game was called after six innings due to weather. Starter Bryan Bello put up all 6.0 frames with six hits, one earned and two walks.

Connor Seabold will make the start for the Sox on Monday. Across four starts so far Seabold is 0-3 with a 10.47 ERA. In 16.1 innings he has 19 earned on 30 hits and six walks with 17 Ks.

The O’s are 14-6 in the last 20 in game one of a series and 102-211 in their last 313 versus the AL East. The over is 11-1-1 in Baltimore’s last 13 Monday games.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 17-41 in their last 58 versus the AL East and 17-38 in their last 55 versus a team with a winning record. The under is 9-1-1 in Boston’s last 11 Monday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with the Orioles but probably not touching it. Lyles is coming off a complete game victory over Detroit, with one earned on three hits and no walks. In his two starts prior however, Lyles put up 12 earned in 8.2 innings over a pair of losses. As for Seabold, he came back to another rough start on September 21, with 5.0 innings, four earned, six hits and a walk. Baltimore is probably the better play here, but neither pitcher inspires a ton of confidence.
