The O’s took on the Tampa Bay Rays in their weekend set. After a split in the first two games, in the Sunday rubber match, Baltimore was out-hit 8-5 in a 2-0 shutout loss. Starter Corbin Burnes gave up both earned runs in 6.0 innings on seven hits and two walks.

As a starter for Monday’s opener, the Orioles are going with Cade Povich. In the first 12 starts of his career, Povich is 2-7 with a 5.76 ERA.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

Over on the Red Sox’ side, they played the Chicago White Sox in the Laundry Series over the weekend. Boston won 3-1 and 7-5 in the first pair. On Sunday the Red Sox coughed up five runs in the ninth inning on the way to a rough loss 7-2. Starter Richard Fitts posted 5.2 innings with six hits, one walk, and no earned runs.

Brayan Bello will start for the Red Sox on Monday. This year Bello is 12-7 with a 4.75 ERA in 26 starts. Bello is 26-26 with a 4.52 ERA in 67 career games (65 starts).

Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction

I may lean toward the Orioles here. Much of that is due to Bello’s inconsistent numbers recently. He did post a nice win over the Jays with 8.0 clean frames back on August 28. In the other two of his last three starts, however, Bello is 0-2 with nine earned in 10.1 innings.

On Sunday the O’s had next to no life offensively. Out of their five hits, Gunnar Henderson had three and Cedric Mullins had the other pair. The good news is that the pitching staff did a solid job. Baltimore needs to get the bats going Monday, though.
